After watching the video of singer/environmentalist Andy Brandy Casagrande, (whe shot to fame for a short period of time) singing to a Great White Shark, I wondered about all those others who were determined to do the unusual whilst diving . Some of these deeds are memorable while others are just plain daft. With so many people in the sport of diving, every day, people head underwater for all sorts of rituals, ceremonies and gatherings. The plastic ocean; a mess we can’t afford to ignore

This week, we saw the Plastiki -  a sailboat made out of 12,500 plastic bottles – complete its 15,000 km journey from San Francisco to Sydney. Artificial sweeteners made me fat

For a few weeks back in June, I felt very bloated and was utterly disgusted by my thick-waistedness. The miserable fat feeling had overwhelmed me. The worst thing was that I couldn’t figure out what had brought this on. I’d been eating reasonably well and exercising regularly. It was mind-boggling. When Pearl Jam’s Among the Waves first hit the scene few weeks ago with all the media coverage about proceeds going to an ocean conservation charity, I thought it was another good move by a band with a record for supporting good causes.
