Hello and welcome to Sea Forever.
What I hope to bring here
Information and discussions on green living, travel, scuba diving and a lot more – in the hope of providing a stop for something a bit different from the usual stream of news and current affairs.
Why?
I started this blog because over the years, I have met so many people who share my love of living well, travelling, diving and what the sea and land has to offer them AND they want to do it responsibly. They want to look after the environment while having fun.
It’s not always easy to get the information when I’m pressed for time. I’m not a marine biologist or an environmental scientist – and neither are most people I know – and I want information that is timely, accurate and interesting.
But won’t always alone in this. I hope to draw on great experts and devoted enthusiasts for information and inspiration in this blog.
About Lou
I’ve lived a life varied life (if nothing else). Over the last couple of decades, I’ve worked as campaigns adviser, management consultant, scuba diving instructor and office gopher. I’ve also dabbled in political journalism, leisure marketing and cooking in a restaurant (that one didn’t last long). During this time, I’ve lived in four countries and visited many others on my free time. My home has ranged from a cozy flat in North London to a one room bamboo hut on a tropical island with no traffic lights. Through all this, one constant was that I always I liked to do my own thing and go where I fancied. I’ve enjoyed most of my wanderings – they’ve allowed me to experience interesting places and meet all sorts of people.
Lets all work for a greener future with a healthy planet
It’s all about our actions. We’re NOT just mere pedestrians in the scheme of life. We can make responsible choices to ensure the long-term welfare of our oceans and lands. We can make informed choices and our choices will be powerful.
Experienced professional with green grounding
With many years of experience in management, social policy, marketing and campaigns, I have a good vantage point. And I have a close and personal knowledge of industries from all angles. While astute and business-minded, I am at the same time, a traveller, diver and consumer who is mindful about good value for money and responsible environmental practices.
Please have a look at my blog and feel free to comment. I appreciate your feedback.
Lou’s background
Lou Kawakami is a consultant who hails originally from Vancouver, Canada (the hub of the earlier green movement). In her youth, she moved to the UK where she worked in the education sector and student affairs. She eventually got into working with a wide range of organisations and companies in both the corporate and non-profit sectors on social policy, research, marketing and promotions.
She is a travel enthusiast and a certified scuba diving instructor. She is committed to a responsible and sustainable lifestyle.
In 2003 (in a fit of sanity), Lou embarked on a life break and headed to Australia, then off to southeast Asia where she lived and worked in the scuba diving industry. For over a decade,Lou has had the privilege of diving in so many beautiful places and these experiences have contributed to her firm belief in the importance of responsible travel and everyday green living.
Now based in Vancouver, she devotes most of her time to business while seeking the great beaches and the outdoors when she can.
