They simply don’t have time to waste going to singles bars nor do they want to. They prefer to get to know someone through the digital medium BEFORE they commit to anything more.

The email correspondence and messaging done via online dating services will let you get check out a person before you actually risk a physical meeting with them. Of course, there is always a certain level of dishonesty that goes on, but it’s better to filter out at the beginning.
